The Word Incarnate sacrificed His Life upon the Cross,
and will that He should die for one and all.
And through this sacrifice He gave to men what man had lost,
through that fateful deed which brought about his fall.

O let Your spirit come upon these gifts of bread and wine,
to sanctify this offering in Your Name.
And send Your Advocate to gather all men into one,
that in union we may praise Your Holy Name.

So in this Eucharistic feast we call to mind the love
which God revealed through Christ His only Son.
The Spirit came upon Him as a sign from God above,
